Wearing formal dresses only make you corporate? Wearing Jeans will not.

Let me first tell you that I am an engineer and working with one of the best utility company of India placed at city of joy Kolkata which every one thinks. Being an Electrical Engineer my work mainly involves around restoring of power supply by hook or by crook. Every time an outage occurs and we Engineers ran out like Jamaican Usain Bolt. Sometimes we behaved like the officers just go and sign the documents, permit to work more precise and restore the supply but most of the time we have to soil our hands to make the thing happens.

The thing which I would like to focus on is that unlike white collar job we are the people who get there collars black to light someones life.

Now coming back to the topic of the discussion are we corporate enough to wear formal dresses which Indians think of as trousers and shirts. Last evening a general discussion ignited regarding this.

A colleague of mine from other department asked or told me

Are Jeans allowed in office? As per corporate culture Jeans is not considered as formal dress of corporate office.

My very first reaction was are we in corporate office! Are we in a office where we have to meet high dignitaries, are we in a office were we go for regular meetings and discussions.

May be I am wrong but I have a different picture of corporate office.

I think

Corporate Office are those where people sit in front of computers in a fully air conditioned office and do the work. People hardly go out , hardly deal with labours and their different issues and problems. May not have fixed timing of leaving the office but have a fix timing of having lunch, breakfast or snacks. Have a regular supply of tea or coffee and at the end of the day have a white collar.

Being an Electrical Engineer I have to work at sites like these. Not in the garbage but at the transformer behind it. And can we expect to wear formal dresses so that we look officers of a corporate office.

Can just wearing formal dresses make you officer. Are there any officer who work on places like this. Other photos I am not uploading otherwise you will vomit out the first rice which you ate.

Do you expect us to climb these types of stairs wearing formal dresses which we site Engineers do almost every day.

In all we are comfortable in jeans while doing these so we wear it. Some wear T-shirt as they feel more comfortable in it.

If you want us to wear as corporate culture then provide us that ambience.

We know shit happens but to work with shit underneath you precious legs can’t be expected.
